She has waited for a very long time…Strays who are taken into the care of shelters were sometimes left unadopted for a very long time. Finding the perfect forever home can take several years, like for this dog named Ginger. Ginger is a 7 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier who was first brought to the Responsible Pet Care shelter located in Maine 4 years ago. Unfortunately, no one wanted to adopt her, so Ginger had been living at the shelter for the past 4 years.

Although Ginger has been well taken care of by the shelter staff, they wanted her to find her very own forever home where she could live happily for the rest of her life. To date, Ginger has waited for a total of 1456 days, that’s way too long for a sweet Staffordshire Bull dog like her to find a forever home! To spread the word about Ginger, the shelter staff took a photo of her wearing a sign on her neck that said ““I have been in the shelter for 1,456 days. Please adopt me.”

The shelter staff also indicated Ginger’s needs of her potential family, stating “She is a beautiful princess that needs to be the only Staffordshire Bull dog in the home, so she can have your undivided attention. This Staffordshire Bull dog knows what she wants and is set in her ways. The rescue posted, “she does have some issues with resource guarding, so no small children. Someone who knows this fantastic breed, older couple, single person, or someone who has an empty couch space needing to be filled!? Please share, you never know who this may reach! Ginger thanks you all!!!”

The Facebook photo soon went viral and the response was overwhelming. The shelter received a lot of inquires, but are still currently trying to find the best fit for Ginger. They also required that anyone who was interested in Ginger to meet her personally first, then a house and a reference check by staff to ensure that are no other animals in the home. Ginger is still available for adoption at this time and needs your help!
