Ginger has lived at the Paris Maine Animal Shelter for the past four years. She is loved by the staff and all the volunteers. Ginger loves to be outside and spends most of her days there including going for walks in the woods and car rides.
“She’s our little princess,” Pat Ingersoll, canine director at Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills, told HuffPost.
But it’s been more than 1000 days, Ginger needs to find a home she can call her own. .
Ginger is a loving, outgoing and snuggly pup, but does take guarding her food and water very seriously.
The shelter posted to their Facebook page writing how long she’s been available and needs a forever home. The post included a photo of Ginger appearing to looking at the camera with pleading eyes, and sporting a sign that said “I have been in the shelter for 1,456 days. Please Adopt Me.”
“She needs the perfect home, not just any home.”
Ginger checks out some dog toys on an outing to the pet store.
RPC doesn’t consider her a good fit for families with small children, or any children who may not be savvy enough to recognize when they need to leave Ginger alone.
“Because she is such a unique and loving dog, we don’t want to put her in a situation where she can fail,” she said.
“We would love nothing more than for her to have her own family right now,” said Ingersoll.
