Are Australian Shepherds the right dog for you and your home? Smart, work-oriented and yet exuberant, this particular dog breed is classified in the herding group – and this meant that they are bred to become ranch or sheepdogs. Closely associated with farm life, Australian Shepherds originate from Australia – most often they do exhibit an irresistible impulse to herd almost anything in sight. Not suitable for people with sedentary lives, Australian Shepherds require a lot of exercise due to their high energy and bubbly personality. Brainy, tireless, and trainable, this breed makes a partner for both work and sports for those who love to explore, move and would appreciate an intelligent canine companion the right way. But are they truly ‘troublesome’? Let’s find out.

Firstly, Australian Shepherds are so intelligent, they might hoodwink you – and occupy your personal space on the couch.

They have an uncanny ability to love you – so much so that they’ll fall asleep with their muzzle on your shoulder.

And oh, don’t forget their bed-takeover habits!

Imagine getting greeted in the morning after you wake up or after a day’s worth of work – with a canine sniffing your face and hair.

Reversely, imagine the quirks Australian Shepherds have – they might be a little too smart for the own good. Just like the one below – he thought it was a shortcut, and its not.

Aside from their already amazingly beautiful fur coats, Australian Shepherds do appreciate 2 pairs of booties for all of their 4 feet for outings to the park, or to merely just look good.

They are so photogenic, wherever they are! Even on top of a tree stump model.

But be careful, this breed does not appreciate baths very much – they might just whine and give you their signature ‘puppy-dog pout’, despite their dripping wet bodies.

Drying their fur afterwards is mighty tedious, and they’ll fall asleep during the process!

Is the Australian Shepherd a troublesome breed? No, of course not – its adorable! But with as with all dog breeds, it does require their owners to have the right attitude, a great level of responsibility in providing love, care and lots of training – the Australian Shepherd is definitely a wonderful canine companion to have!
