This is the story of Lara, a Pit Bull mix who had been pregnant with puppies prior to getting tightly tied to a tree and left to die all on her own. She had been found in a forested area located in Nafplion, Greece. The location Lara was found in was in fact, in the middle of nowhere. She had been presumed to have given birth alone – without proper sanitation, food, water or shelter. No one found or untied her during a period of 10 days prior to her rescue, despite the fact that villagers from a nearby village had already known about Lara’s plight. Plus, no one knew who her former owner was.
Lara was quickly untied when rescuers found her, and she was found to be extremely jittery, frightened, malnourished and dehydrated due to her ordeal. Unfortunately, one of her puppies did not make it through, leaving only 3 surviving pups for pit bull mix or poor Lara to care for.

Lara and her 3 puppies were quickly ferried back to a local animal shelter for safety and cleaning up. They were also given a clean kennel to settle down, rest, drink and eat. One kind woman stepped in and opened up her humble abode as a suitable foster home for the little canine family, until they could be properly adopted.
