Every living being should be given the chance to have a decent life and enjoy the beauties this world has to offer. Sadly, not everyone is given this opportunity, as many people live on the verge of poverty, and many animals are doomed to spend their days wondering the streets, and even being severely neglected and abused by their owners.

Abused dog Apollo

Apollo, a terrified and physically and mentally affected dog found himself at the Texas Animal Care Services in San Antonio. He had a rough start in life and it looked like no one could help him. When the shelter’s staff posted a photo of him, looking all sad and desperate, people were left heartbroken.

Besides the warnings that he would probably never make a good pet because of his poor health and lack of socialization, a family was willing to give him a chance and took him home. Apollo was diagnosed with deadly distemper, but that didn’t stop Megan Cook from proceeding with her intentions of giving this poor soul all the love he was in need of.

She told The Examiner:

“We brought him home, and we gave him food, and a bed, and everything a puppy wants. You should have seen how excited he was when we fed him in those first few months.

“He recovered entirely from his illness. Slowly, he became the best dog, even at times very cuddly. His favorite thing on the planet is our morning walks.

“He is loving, confident, and sweet – the perfect family pet.

“He is our tiny dachshund’s best friend in the world. Recently we had a baby, and from the moment we brought our baby home, Apollo adopted the baby as if he were his own puppy.”

The story of Apollo is an example of how love and devotion can affect someone’s life and make it the perfect one.

Below is a before and after photo of this sweet pup. He really doesn’t resemble that frightened dog that arrived at the shelter.
