Couple spots a weird dog sitting next to their car while having a stop at a gas station during road trip

That the choices we make in life determine our destiny happened to be very true for one special dog who chose to stay by some strangers’ car asking for some food.

When the car owners, a woman named Emily Trost and her boyfriend who were on a 10-week-trip got out of the store at the Montana gas station and noticed the sweet pooch, they were surprised.

“Our initial thought was that she was the pet of someone else using the gas station,” Emily told The Dodo. “My boyfriend and I went around to others at the gas station asking if she was theirs. We also waited with her to see if somebody came out of the gas station store to claim her. Nobody did, and as we were waiting, we realized how dirty she was with thorns, twigs and pricklies all caught in her long hair and our hearts broke for her.”

The two didn’t want to leave before they made sure the dog wasn’t in fact lost so they stayed there for a while hoping the owner would appear.

But, then a woman approached the couple and told them how the dog was a stray that she fed along with the rest of the homeless dogs of the area and asked them to take her with them if possible.

Looking at the pup, they though they could at least take her to a shelter, but after spending a couple of minutes with her, they realized she would make a great pet.

“Within minutes of driving away with her in the car, we knew she was coming home with us,” Emily said.

They invited the dog to join them in their journey and named her Montana after the place they found her at.

Montana loved being around them and knew how to show her love and gratitude to the people who welcomed her in their car, and most importantly, in their life.

“The morning after we got her was the best,” Emily said. “She woke up in our tent and started crawling up to our heads, whimpering and giving us kisses. We could tell she was truly surprised that we were still there with her and that no human had probably ever stayed with her for that long.”

During the first couple of days, Montana would spend most of her time sleeping and enjoying her soft and comfy bed. As it turned out, she loved being in the car and her vibrant personality only added to the fun the three had while traveling around.

“She loved the rest of the trip, always excited to hike and swim with us,” Emily said. “She was great in the car and would just lay down and sleep. She even loved sleeping in the tent every night and learned very quickly that wherever our tent was set up was home.”

Once the trip was over, the couple brought Montana home and introduced her to her dog siblings. Needless to say, she fit in just perfectly and made a perfect addition to the family.

She got plenty of toys and is surrounded by people who love her unconditionally. Emily says Montana could be stubborn at times, but they accept her the way she is.

Sweet Montana loves her new life that she was given all thanks to her decision to sit by Emily’s car.
