He was depressed and lonely at first…Who says dogs and rodents can’t be best friends? For a dutch shepherd named Osiris, his best friend is not a dog, but a 3 month old rat named Riff. A trained therapy dog, Osiris first met Riff when his family rescued a 4 week old Riff from the streets. At that time, Riff was so young that his eyes were not even open yet.

Osiris’ family nursed Riff back to health and raised him. Eventually, Riff was able to meet Osiris face-to-face for the first time and the pair have been inseparable ever since. Much to the family’s surprise, Osiris and Riff became the best of friends even though they initially worried about their differences in their sizes.

Osiris was actually an abandoned puppy once. He was found by his family in a parking lot, who took in him and fostered him for quite awhile. His family liked him so much that they decided to adopt him. As a therapy dog, Osiris has helped his family to take care of various animals over the years.

Osiris and Riff would spend most of the time with each other. They would cuddle on the couch together and Osiris would share his doggie toys with Riff. Despite the fact that Osiris is more than twice his size, Riff does not fear him and would even clean his teeth for him!

Osiris does not mind in the slightest. After all, he’s got a free dental service! The duo would also go everywhere with one another, with Riff hitching a ride on Osiris’ back. These two best friends are an unlikely pair, but they are definitely adorable!
