This dog was accused of a racist hate crime just like that…

Sometimes, people would put the blame on animals for the silliest things. Just like this dog in the United Kingdom, who had been accused of a Dog Was Accused Of Racism just because he pooped outside someone’s home. This “poo-and-run” incident is one of the 2,500 reported cases of racist hate crimes logged by the Metropolitan Police because the victim had claimed that he perceived this to be a racial incident.

Other ridiculous allegations investigated by officers back in 2015 and 2016 included an envelope being opened and resealed, and a man telling some library staff that he was campaigning for Brexit.

In another case, it was suggested a barking dog was also a hate crime. According to the police’s statement, the suspect’s dog was caught barking at the victim. David Davies, Tory MP and former special constable, said the recording of such “non-crimes” was a waste of police time. “This is part of the reason that police struggle to investigate serious offences such as home burglaries. People need to start thinking more carefully before they call the police.”

Disputes between neighbors were the most common among the reported incidents, including one person who fought with their neighbor over parking, or that someone recently found a dead rat in garden and perceived that to be racist. Current rules see that the police record any allegations which were described to be motivated by prejudice as a hate incident, even if it is not serious enough to be regarded as a crime.
