Meet Blossom, a stray who was rescued by local good samatarian Rocky Kanaka. She was extremely timid and hand shy when he first stumbled upon the dog. She did not trust human hands either – it was almost impossible to touch her as she would quickly dash away. Blossom was not the first dog Rocky rescued, but she was truly the first unique case he had ever came across.
After bringing the dog back to his home, Rocky would patiently gain the dog’s trust, let it settle down and become adjusted with its new surroundings. However, Blossom was totally different case – she never did so. Nothing Rocky did with other canines ever seemed to work with her. The problem was, as he soon found out, was that she did not know how to enjoy life, act and function like a dog!
Blossom had no basic knowledge of even behaving as a dog. When Rocky took her out in his yard to pee and poop, she would try to escape instead. He had to put a GPS tracker on her just in case due to her running away. Plus, Blossom was scared of everything – even sunlight. She would hide in almost anything she could find – beneath bushes, underneath trees or in any available shadows.
Frightened, Blossom would only hide inside and around Rocky’s home. She wanted nothing to do with the other dogs and Rocky himseld. He attempted to hand feed her moistened food as Blossom never knew how to eat or drink from a dog dish. Rocky however, never lost hope. Months later, Blossom trusted him enough to jump up on the couch and lie down beside him.
Later on, Blossom learnt how to mimic and model herself after the other dogs and eat properly. She could even go out in the yard and stay in the sun, rather than hiding from the sun’s ray all the time like she used to!
It was a miracle. Blossom went out into the yard with Rocky and the other dogs. For the first time ever, she was wagging her tail and running around playfully! Blossom had just turned 3 years-old. It was patience, care and love from Rocky that changed Blossom – and it was a good thing too!
