Normally if you want to enjoy watching a film with your dog you have to stay at home. And while curling up on the sofa with your special pup can be fun, it would be nice to get out of the house sometimes to watch a film.
But dog-lovers and owners alike can now rejoice, as there is a movie theater in Plano, Texas that will let you bring your four-legged friends to the cinema. And it gets better – K9 Cinemas offers $15 tickets which include bottomless wine or four whiskeys, and you can also bring in your own snacks for you and your pup. Sounds like my kind of cinema: dogs and booze.
Eric Garland, the owner of an Australian Eskimo named Bear, was the one who created the unique social event following a very huge gap in the dog and wine movie market.
Naturally, there are a few rules that need to be followed. You can bring a second dog for $5, however, you’re not allowed to have more than two. And of course, you need to clean up after your dog or dogs. And, most importantly, when you come to the cinema you need to bring veterinarian proof that they’re up to date on their vaccinations.
K9 Cinema first opened in 2018 but doesn’t show new film releases. Instead, it hosts themed nights or one-off events like showing Elf during the holiday season, or recently, they screened the final episode of Game of Thrones. We can only assume there were a few tears shed during the scene when Jon Snow is reunited with his direwolf, Ghost.
