As soon as the baby was born, the people who monitored La Nina, the zebra mommy, cut the umbilical cord and that’s when the baby slipped and fell into the watering hole.

The mother was not yet recovered from the labor and instead of taking her time to rest and cuddle next to her newborn she had to see it drowning. It was obvious she could understand what was going on, and that her baby was in trouble. The mommy was pretty upset and distressed because she feared for her baby’s life.

Thankfully, the zookeepers knew exactly what to do. They acted really fast, because every second was priceless in order for the life of the newborn to be saved. The men entered into the water and tried to reach the foal and take it out of it.

When the mother realized the men were there to help, it could be seen from the footage that she felt relieved but still couldn’t wait to be near her newborn so she tried entering the water herself.

As they were carrying the foal in their hands, they splashed the mother with water in order to alarm her to stay away because they didn’t want to risk dropping the baby into the water again.

Once she took a step back, the brave men managed to get her baby on the shore where he was safe. They were happy to help and were eager to let the mother spend some time with her lovely baby.

Thankfully, everything turned out just fine at the end.
