How far are you willing to go for the sake of saving a life or rescue drowning dog? Apparently, nothing could stop 20-year-old Sarwan Singh from Punjab, India from rescuing a drowning dog, even if his action was considered disrespectful towards his religion by some of the onlookers. For this young man, however, nothing is more important than lending a helping hand and stepping in, no matter if it’s about a human being or an animal in need.

Singh recalls what really happened that day, saying: ‘I was travelling when I saw a group of men pointing towards the canal. I stopped my car and went over to check what was happening. I was shocked to see that there was a dog drowning but no one was actually helping.’

This quick-thinking man knew the dog’s time was running out so he took his turban off and used the material as a pulling rope.

This is really a kind of a rescue we don’t get to witness every day.

The video shows Singh lowering his body into the canal using the material from his turban and an additional piece of fabric to scoop the dog up. The terrified animal refused to come closer as it didn’t know this courageous man was there to save him. After a couple of tries, the dog was finally taken out of the water. Singh remembers feeding the rescued animal some biscuits before it ran away.

It’s amazing what some individuals are willing to do for the sake of others. We definitely need more people like this young hero in the world.
