You may have heard of Rescuers Without Border, which s is an American-based organization which helps to rescue local stray dogs all the way in Turkey. Crystal Carson is the co-founder of this organization.

One day, she came across some photos which showed a litter of puppies. They were found all huddled together on a median strip in Iskilip, Turkey. They may have even been outside for many weeks. There was no sign of any shelter there, neither were there any clean sources of food and water. They had been left on their own to fend for themselves. Some passerbys fed the puppies bread, but no one helped them.

Temperatures were dropping, and the only way for the pups to cope was to cuddle close together to keep warm.

Most of the resources which Rescuers Without Borders used were from a landfill located in Corum, Turkey – and it is also a home to hundreds of dogs. Unfortunately, the organization was reaching its maximum rescue capacity. However, Carson and the other volunteers of the group were wanted to rescue the puppies nevertheless. If they do not do so, these puppies would have died in the cold.

Carson searched for a local to Iskilip who could help the puppies, and that was a great challenge. The puppies had mange, which is a contagious skin disease caused by mites. Most rescuers did not want to take them in as it could possibly infect other dogs in their care.

It took 3 weeks for Carson found someone willing to help. The kind-hearted volunteer then transported them to a vet clinic located in Ankara, Turkey for immediate medical aid. Luckily, all of the puppies tested negative for parvo and distemper.

But they did have parasites, which needed treating. One of 5 puppies died, as its body was sadly was too weak to pull through. The remaining 4 continued to grow stronger. During their stay, the puppies also became comfortable around humans. They will be staying at the animal hospital for a few more weeks until they receive their vaccinations en route to America. Carson remains hopeful that the pups would eventually all be adopted.
