Homeless Man Admitted To Hospital, His Stray Dog Friends Wait For Him At The Door

Dogs really are man’s best friend; they prove themselves time and time again to be loyal, kind, and affectionate when others might just turn the other cheek.

One man in Brazil found this out in heartwarming fashion after he was admitted to hospital recently.

César is homeless but has a loyal pack of canine friends. And friends they were, as each of the dogs refused to leave him alone during his time of need.

As reported by The Dodo, César was getting treated for a pre-existing medical condition when a nurse at Hospital Regional Alto Vale in Rio do Sul, Cris Mamprim, saw the dogs waiting patiently outside the door.

César walked into the hospital in the early hours of Sunday morning (December 9, 2018) before people realised that he wasn’t alone. Four furry companions were waiting outside, each refusing to leave César until he was seen to by hospital staff.

Mamprim wrote an emotional post on Facebook after she witnessed the display of loyalty:

She started by explaining that the man had come into the hospital in which she works at 3am.

The post, translated into English, went on to say:

“A simple person, without luxury, who depends on help to overcome the hunger, the cold, the pain, the evils of the world, has by his side the best companions, and the exchange is reciprocal.

Exchange of love, affection, warmth, understanding,. [sic] A person who confessed to us that stop eating to feed them [sic].”

When asked about his furry friends, César explained how he had been giving any food he could get his hands on to the dogs – meaning he often went without.

This meant that, because of the man’s sacrifices, the dogs were well fed; Mamprim even described them as ‘chubby’.

She told The Dodo:

They are all well taken care of and chubby. Seeing them like that, waiting at the door, only shows how much they are cared for and loved.

Obviously, the hospital couldn’t keep them apart for long (hello, have you seen how adorable they are?!) and once César had been treated, staff made the decision to invite his dogs inside.

While they did so, they gave the man some food – which Mamprim said he ate some of before saving more to give to the dogs later on.

César spent about an hour at the hospital before being discharged, dogs in tow, wagging their tails, reunited with their best pal.

The nurse later wrote:

I don’t know what his life is like, because he’s on the street, and I don’t even want to know and judge him, but I admire the respect and love he has for seeing them like this, waiting on the door, just shows how much they are well care and loved.

Oh if everyone was like this…. if there was no evil, mistreatment….

I’m not crying, you are.

I hope César recovers and lives a happy life together with his canine companions live a happy life together.
