In Windsor, England, a couple got pulled over by an officer for a traffic stop. This however, was no ordinary traffic stop. When the couple saw the officer, they proceeded to carry something out from their backseat. The couple then handed a Jack Russell puppy to the astonished officer, claiming that they had just bought the puppy from Gumtree on that day but no longer wanted him.

The puppy was only just 6 weeks old and was already sold as a pet despite being too young to be separated from his mother. The officer quickly took the puppy to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, which was an animal shelter nearby. The shelter soon agreed to take the puppy in and named him Buddy. At the shelter, Buddy received much needed care and was much loved by everyone there.
Just a few days after his arrival, Buddy was adopted by a family and is now living happily in his forever home. Unfortunately, Buddy was not the only pet to have experienced abandonment. Countless of dogs who have been purchased online and quickly abandoned by their owners when they are deemed unwanted.
Owning a dog is a big responsibility, so potential owners should do ample research and be prepared before getting one. According to Sean Welland, the re-homing and welfare manager at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home advises that people should think twice before getting a dog. He also added that although it is easy to get a dog online, the amount of care that their dog needs is a lot more than they realize.
